Lot Essay

Eisenberg Jewellery was founded in 1935 and continues to the present day, with a reputation for high quality costume jewellery with the patina of age.

The second brooch is not by the House of Chanel, as was previously widely believed, but instead was produced by the Chanel Novelty company. Coco Chanel successfully took the company to court to forbid them to use the Chanel name, even though her house was (temporarily) closed during the war years.
