With Rolex original fitted green period presentation box.

The present watch is a reference 6105 dating from the early 1950s with an attractive and highly unusual cream dial. The dial captivates for two reasons: first it shows the use of two different tones of red and secondly a depth designation. Both the name Datejust as well as the depth designation 50m=165ft are in red. A closer look further reveals that the two shades of red used for the model name and the depth designation are different. While water-resistant, it is extremely rare to find a depth designation on a DateJust Rolex. Moreover, it must be pointed out that the word Rolex consists of applied letters, which is not that common either. The numerals on the date disc are all red.

The combination of these unusual factors together with the overall very good condition of the watch, displaying sharp milling on the bezel, as well as a crisp hallmark on the underside of the upper right lug, make this watch a rare find.

Rolex catalogues dating from 1952/53 show the reference with a reeded bezel. However, a variant with a smooth bezel could also be ordered.
