Lot Essay

According to the Archives of Audemars Piguet, the present watch was manufactured in 2001.

Reference 25949IP, also known as the "DOUBLE X" Jules Audemars Chronograph, is hugely inspired from aviation and the related pilot's watches. At the time of release and with a case measuring 48 mm. in diameter, this was the largest wristwatch ever designed by Audemars Piguet. The watch is fitted with a Kevlar strap that was exceptionally wide (25mm.) at the time. Its readability is increased trough large-size Arabic numerals reinforced with luminous lime-green coating so that they can be easily seen in the dark. The case is made of titanium and platinum to keep its weight low while extremely resistant. These features all contribute to the success of this model that is particularly sought after. Originally it was especially designed to be worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger in his film entitled "The 6TH Day".

This watch is one of a limited edition of 50 examples produced.
