With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin confirming the sale of the present watch with blue sunburst decoration on the dial on 14 December 2007. Further accompanied by World Time operating instructions, fitted veneered presentation box and outer packaging.
The present watch has never been offered at auction before and is preserved in good overall condition. Like other modern complicated platinum Patek Philippe watches, this reference 5130 is discreetly adorned with a diamond between the lower lugs. The glazed display back allows the viewer an exciting view of the mechanism with its small off-centre solid gold rotor and lively vibrating balance. A dynamic and contemporary looking watch, it is only one of around 15 platinum examples to have appeared on the auction market to date.
When reference 5130 was introduced in 2000, it replaced its predecessor reference 5110. The latter was the company's first World Time reference since reference 2523 went out of production in 1965. In line with a contemporary taste for bigger watches, reference 5130 is with its 39.5 mm. diameter a full 2.5 mm. larger than reference 5110. The increased size of the watch makes for a broader width of the exterior rotating disc showing the 24 time zones, thus enhancing legibility of the 24 world cities listed. The dials of reference 5130 are decorated with a chic-looking guilloché centre of silver sunburst pattern for gold models and of blue sunburst pattern for platinum watches. The stylish watch face is complemented by the use of a ring-shaped hour hand, representing the globe. Patek Philippe reserved this type of hand exclusively for World Time watches.
