The first with Cal. 13''' mechanical movement, 17 jewels, silvered matte dial, applied gold baton and Arabic numerals, five minute divisions, outer blue tachymetre scale, two engine-turned subsidiary dials for constant seconds and 30 minutes register, the second with Cal. 14''' mechanical jewelled movement, silvered matte dial, applied Arabic and baton numerals, outer five minute divisions and telemetre scale, outermost tachymetre scale, two subsidiary dials for constant seconds and 30 minutes register, Both with circular cases and snap on backs, two chronograph buttons in the band, 18K gold Rolex buckles, cases, dials and movements signed

Lot Essay

Reference 3484 was in production from 1939 to 1948 and was cased either in stainless steel or gold. The model is described and illustrated in I Cronografi Rolex - La Leggenda, Pucci Papaleo Editore, pp. 132 & 133.

Reference 2508 was introduced into the market in the mid 1930s. The first generation, such as the present watch, featured oval chronograph buttons whereas the second series were fitted with rectangular pushers. Different versions of reference 2508 are described and illustrated in I Cronografi Rolex - La Leggenda, Pucci Papaleo Editore, pp. 80-91.
