Lot Essay

The present watch is a very nice and original example of reference 6265 with all the correct elements of nicely brushed lugs, polished sides and crisp back. Together with the nice condition of the dial, it is a splendid and wearable collector's item.

The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 6265 was introduced in 1971 and is characterized by its metal graduated bezel. By contrast, reference 6263, which came out in the same year, has a bezel with a black plastic insert and white tachymetre scale. Both references were produced until the late 1980s. They were available in either stainless steel, 14K gold or 18K gold. The red Daytona signature can only be found on stainless steel models such as this one.
