With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated 27 February 2010, tag, instructions, original veneered presentation box and outer packaging.

The present watch is in as new condition and charms by its artistry and practicality. Its cloisonné enamel dial is of sublime quality and delights with its intense colours framed by 24 world cities in playful italic script.

Fresh to the market, it only one of a handful to have appeared at auction to date.

Offering the observer the current hour in 24 locations around the world, this multiple time zone wristwatch has a movement in which the World Time mechanism with both the city and 24-hour rings are isolated from the going train of the watch. This means that neither the accuracy of the movement (calibre 240 HU) nor the advancement of the minute hand are compromised when the mechanism is switched from one time zone to another.

A modern world time wristwatch, its mechanism harks back to the 1930s when talented Geneva watchmaker Louis Cottier devised it and offered his invention to Patek Philippe. Cottier's ingenuity resulted in the company's now classic references 1415 HU and 2523. In 1959, Patek Philippe obtained a patent for Cottier's device (Swiss Patent No. 340 191). The company further developed the movement, introducing calibre 240 HU in 1999.

The complicated mechanism is combined with a beautiful cloisonné enamel dial. As the art of making such dials is highly complex and requires great skill from dedicated artisans, the numbers produced are limited.

Ref. 5131
In production only from 2008 to 2012, reference 5131 is equipped with the ultra-thin automatic calibre 240 HU. (HU stands for Heure Universelle, wich is French for World Time). It features an eccentric 22K gold micro-rotor recessed in the back plate.

The reference was produced in 18K yellow gold as well as in 18K white gold. The yellow gold versions have an enamel dial displaying the Americas, Europe and Africa while the white gold versions show Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania.

Reference 5131 is the successor of reference 5130 and shows three notable differences: use of a closionné enamel dial, the names of the 24 cities are displayed in Italic type and the signature "Patek Philippe" and company location "Genève" are engraved on the bezel.
