The present watch is a highly attractive example of the three-body chronograph reference 6234. It is in excellent overall condition, featuring a beautiful silvered dial with the word Anti-Magnetic on it, as well as a blue tachymetre scale for miles and a black tachymetre scale. The edges of the case and the milling on the back are sharp.

The dial of the "pre-Daytona" on offer here is rare as it does not feature the luminous accents found just above the numerals on most other dials. Examples of reference 6234 in 14K gold, such as this watch, were usually reserved for the North American market. Rolex delivered the 18K gold version of the reference to the European and Asian markets.

Preceding the Cosmograph Daytona family of watches, the Oyster chronograph reference 6234 is one of Rolex's most sought-after watches, effortlessly combining a sporty look with elegant flair.

Different examples of reference 6234 are illustrated in 100 Superlative Rolex Watches by John Goldberger, pp. 120-127, as well as in I Cronografi Rolex - La Leggenda, Pucci Papaleo Editore, pp. 254-276 and in 100 Years of Rolex by Guido and Franca Mondani, p. 79.
