BY DURS EGG, LONDON, LONDON SILVER HALLMARKS FOR 1795
With swamped twist rebrowned barrel signed 'D.EGG, LONDON' in gold on the full length sighting flat and inlaid with two gold-lines at the breech, silver fore-sight, case-hardened patent breech engraved 'NOCK'S PATENT BREECHING' and with further gold-inlaid line and gold-lined touch-hole, border and foliate engraved tang incorporating the rear-sight, associated border and foliate engraved signed detented bolted lock with stepped-tail and roller, figured walnut full stock (repaired in front of lock and cracked by side-nail) with characteristic diamond-shaped chequering, engraved silver mounts including butt-cap bearing the crest and motto of the Prince of Wales, silver escutcheon engraved with the initials 'G.A.K.', and later horn-tipped ramrod (possibly expertly reconverted from percussion), London proof marks
