COLT, NEW YORK CITY, SERIAL NO. 68334/' FOR CIRCA 1857
With octagonal barrel with single line 'ADDRESS SAML. COLT NEW YORK CITY', period dovetailed large nickel silver blade fore-sight and retaining traces of original blued finish, cylinder with naval engagement scene, frame with small 'COLTS PATENT' mark and retaining traces of case-hardened finish, iron grip-strap and trigger-guard each retaining some original nickel-plated finish, the former engraved with the name 'S.M. SMITH', ivory grips, and matching numbers throughout, the principle numbers struck with an apostrophe mark
7½in. (19cm.) barrel
