With silver-plated signed sighted barrel engraved with scrollwork and an arrow on each side, gold-plated brass frame profusely engraved with scrollwork against a stippled ground, a flower-head, chequered panels and an eagle with its wings outspread bearing the American shield behind the hammer, retaining much original finish throughout
2½in. (6.4cm.) barrel

Lot Essay

This very rare deringer is one of some 20 pairs of a very limited production run mostly found with serial numbers in the 3750-4339 range, although a single pistol with serial number 5216 has been noted.
