A RARE IRON-RED-DECORATED 'DRAGON' DISH
ZHENGDE SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1491-1521)
The dish is potted with delicately rounded sides. The interior is painted with a long-bodied five-clawed scaly dragon in pursuit of the flaming pearl, and the cavetto is decorated with a narrow band of classic scrolls. Two further dragons in pursuit of the flaming pearl are depicted on the exterior.
