FIRST EDITION. Hsiang Yuen P'ien, a celebrated Chinese connoisseur famed as an art collector, painter and calligraphist, conceived the idea of preparing an illustrated catalogue of porcelains after the model of earlier catalogues of ancient bronzes. The original album was lost in a fire in 1887, but a duplicate copy survived which was translated and prepared for publication in 1908 by Stephen Bushell.
