A MOUNTED WHITE JADE PENDANT

The pendant is of shaped rectangular form, carved to one side with a boy holding a lotus stem. The reverse is carved with a four-line poetic inscription. Silvered mounts.
2 1/8 in. (5.5 cm.) long, mounted as a brooch

A boy (zi) carrying a lotus (lian) represents the wish liansheng guizi, 'May you have the continuous birth of distinguished sons'.
