A PALE YELLOW AND RUSSET JADE 'ELEPHANT AND BOY' GROUP
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-95)
The caparisoned beast is carved standing with its head turned to one side, a finely detailed tasselled saddle cloth on its back upon which a kneeling boy carries a vase and ruyi sceptre. The stone has pale and darker russet inclusions and veins.
