THREE KESI LANDSCAPE PANELS AND ONE KESI FIGURATIVE PANEL
17TH/18TH CENTURY
The three rectangular panels are variously woven with pavilions and fishermen in boats in mountainous river landscapes on a celadon ground; the fourth panel is woven with two figures in conversation beneath a pine tree in a rocky setting, the edges of some rocks and leaves are highlighted with gold thread.
The largest panel 13 1/8 in x 9½ in. (33.3 cm. x 24.2 cm.) (4)
Provenance
From the collection of Llewellyn Jones (d.1947) and then by descent.
Acquired when he was travelling in East Asia during the early part of the 20th Century.
Part of the collection was gifted to the Victoria and Albert Museum c.1949.
