A BLACK LACQUER EMBELLISHED FOUR-FOLD SCREEN
18TH/19TH CENTURY
It is inlaid with jade, carnelian, agate, rose quartz, malachite and lapis lazuli with panels of ducks amongst lotus, egrets amongst water lilies, quail amongst chrysanthemum and kingfishers amongst peony. The upper panels with jade plaques and gilt bats, the wood lower panels carved with archaistic vessels amidst formal dragons and the reverse with calligraphy in mother-of-pearl.
