A BLUE SILK KESI FORMAL COURT ROBE, CHIFU
MID-19TH CENTURY
The robe is woven to the blue ground with nine gilt five-clawed dragons and flaming pearls and woven with bats, cloud-scrolls and auspicious emblems in coloured silks, all above cresting waves and lishui stripes.
Provenance
Acquired by the grandparents of the present owner in the early 1900s.
