A BLUE-GROUND KESI FORMAL COURT ROBE, CHIFU
CIRCA 1870
The robe is woven with nine dragons amongst the Eight Buddhist Emblems, bajixiang, and further auspicious symbols with painted highlights, all above tumultuous waves and a multicolour lishui stripe, lined in blue silk.
