Signed Masayuki, Meiji period (late 19th century)
The ivory frame with inset lacquered panels inlaid in Shibayama style with cockerels and hens amongst various flowers beneath a weeping cherry tree against a gold ground decorated in takamaki-e, kirikane and nashiji with a shrine on a mountain, the reverse decorated in iroe-togidashi-e with autumn foliage and flowers on a black ground with sprinkled nashiji, the frame carved a variety of flowers and seikaiha pattern, silver fittings
