Signed Toyosai, Edo Period (late 18th century)
Decorated in gold, silver and black hiramaki-e, inlays of shell and gold foil on a sparse nashiji ground with rice plants and grasses, red lacquer interiors, risers with gyobu-nashiji over black lacquer, fundame rims, metalwork ojime in the form of a tsuba
