Lot Essay

The decoration on the cover appears to match the cream-jug and it is possible that the two belong to each other, but the poor fit of the cover suggests that it could perhaps have belonged to a similar cream-pot in the same service. A Kapuziner-braun teacaddy and cover from 'A Highly Important Collection of Meissen Porcelain', also decorated in the Seuter workshop with a vignette composed of some of the same elements as those on the present lot, was sold in these rooms on 11 December 2007, lot 47.
