A PAIR OF PARIS PORCELAIN SALMON-GROUND TWO-HANDLED VASES

Of oviform with gilt reed and bulrush handles with flowerhead terminals, each painted on one side with a cornucopia of fruit, flowers and foliage above a terrace issuing colourful scrolling foliage supporting a pair of exotic birds, the reverses each with emblems of music or love, including bagpipes and a pair of doves before a quiver of arrows amongst further scrolling foliage with pendant berried swags of leafy foliage, all against a salmon ground with a gilt and green stiff-leaf border below, the upper body with a vertical gilt, black and white striped border, the waisted neck and foot with gilt marbled blue-ground lozenge panels issuing gilt grasses and supported on foliate scrollwork, mounted on stepped square rouge griotte marble bases (some wear to gilding on handles and rims, minor chips to marble bases)
