MARK OF PAILLARD FRERES, PARIS, SECOND HALF 19TH CENTURY
Each on domed plinth supported on six scroll and rocaille cast feet and supporting three cast putto in various poses, the stem cast with openwork foliage and supporting two tiers of foliage scroll cast branches, each terminating in a rocaille cast socket, the lower tier with six branches and upper tier with three branches, with a further central socket, the base applied on three sides with two coats-of-arms accolé, marked on base, under one foot and on socket

gross weight 745 oz. 16 dwt. (23,199 gr.)
The arms are those of Demidoff below a princely crown impaling Mestchersky below a Russian imperial crown for Pavel Pavlovich, 2nd Prince of San Donato (1839-1885) and his first wife Princess Marie Elimovna Mestchersty (1844-1868). (2)
