At this date Emden goldsmiths marks are predominantly of monogram form. A list of makers in Scheffler's Goldschmiede Niedersachsens, Berlin, 1965, p. 316 includes the maker Ayelt Mendrich who was demonstrably a working goldsmith rather than a retailer as he is recorded to have employed three apprentices.
