THE BELT MARK OF ADAM PROELL, NUREMBERG, CIRCA 1600
Tapering cylindrical, the sheath decorated with masks and figures playing musical instruments, the cap modelled as acanthus leaves with turned finial, set throughout with precious and semi-precious stones, the sheath suspended on a chain with each link formed as three flowers, the central buckle with two doves and two figures, together with a German fork and knife, Augsburg, circa 1600, probably mark of Amos Neuwald, belt marked on reverse of buckle, the fork and knife each marked on handle
The sheath 8¼ in. (20.9 cm.) long, the belt 42½ in. (107.9 cm.) long; 12 oz. 10 dwt. (399 gr. ) gross weight (3)
