We are grateful to Fred G. Meijer at the Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie, The Hague for providing additional information about the provenance of this painting and for informing us that files from the legacy of Bachstitz (received in 1949) indicate that Abraham Bredius and Wilhelm Bode accepted the portrait as by Aelbert Cuyp (private communication, 10 April 2013).
