(Spotted, generally light but occasionally heavy, some browning.) Contemporary dark green half morocco by A. Macomie, marbled paper boards, spine lettered in gilt (some scuffing).
FIRST QUARTO EDITION OF THE DANIELLS' MOST CELEBRATED WORK. The quarto edition was prepared under the supervision of the Daniells, reducing and reproducing the monumental folio edition issued from 1795 to 1808 in order to make their work more widely accessible. Oriental Scenery depicts 'Mughal and Dravidian monuments, cityscapes and sublime views of mountains and waterfalls and formed the most extensive work of its kind' (ODNB).
