Lot Essay

These chairs share many features with a suite of seat furniture designed by Robert Adam in 1777 and made by William and John Linnell for Robert Child at Osterley Park, Middlesex. Part of this suite is illustrated in H. Hayward and P. Kirkham, William and John Linnell, New York, 1980, p.47.
