Jacques Deshêtres, maître in 1747.
Little is known about Jacques Desestre (d. 1770). He resided in the Villeneuve quarter and was known for his high-quality seat furniture which often featured flowerheads. A set of four caned fauteuils were recorded in Château de Bouges (P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIII Siècle, Paris, 1989, p. 258).
An identical further pair, presumably from this set, was sold from the collection of Nicholas Landau and Jaqueline Goldman at Sotheby's, Paris, 8-9 April 2013, lot 317.
