Each of baluster form flanked by upright rocaille scroll handles, molded front and back with gold-ground cartouches painted after Watteau with figures, reserved within painted floral sprigs and applied flowering vine, raised on a foliate scroll base

A similar pair of ormolu-mounted vases, their bodies covered in mayflower blossoms, were sold in the Collection of Madame Lucienne Fribourg, Parke-Bernet Galleries Inc., 19 April 1969, lot 49.
