Lot Essay

Cette charmante statuette baoulé fut soclée par l'ébéniste japonais Inagaki (cf. lot 26). Ce dernier, très actif au début du siècle dernier, travaillait pour la plupart des marchands et collectionneurs de cette époque, notamment Paul Guillaume et Stéphen Chauvet qui fixaient parfois des étiquette sur les socles de ses objets comme c'est le cas ici (cf.Ricqlès, Collection Hubert Goldet, 20 juin et 1er juillet 2001, lot 194 pour une statuette agni présentant un socle sur lequel est fixée une étiquette comparable, provenant des collections Vlaminck, Chauvet, Goldet et aujourd'hui conservée au musée du Quai Branly, in.70.2001.25.1).
Soclé par Kichizô Inagaki (1876-1951), Paris.
