Born in Paris in 1896, Geneviève became an orphan soon after and was raised by her grandmother.
In 1916, whilst studying Oriental art at l'Ecole du Louvre, she married Léon Moron. Following travels to Greece, Lebanon and Turkey between 1933 and 1936, her husband became captain of the ship 'Rigault de Genouilly ' operating out of China and they settled in Beijing. Geneviève Moron met Father Teilhard de Chardin (1881-1955), the famous paleontologist, the adventuress Alexandra David-Néel (1868-1969) and the novelist Juliet Bredon, author or 'The Moon Year'.
She began collecting Chinese porcelain, calligraphy and Tibetan thangkas along with numerous other objects. In 1937 her husband was sent to the Pacific and Geneviève Moron returned to France shortly before the Japanese invasion of China. After the French armistice in 1940, Léon Moron was amongst the first Captain's to join the Free French in London and was therefore condemned to death by the military court of the Vichy government.
Appointed as administrator of the French interests in Lebanon by Général de Gaulle, the Captain and his wife settled in Beirut. They lived there until his retirement and then returned to France, finally settling in the Périgord region. Their house was full of all the treasures acquired on their travels, including the fine Han dynasty terracotta figure gifted to the Musée Guimet after Geneviève Moron passed away in 1976.

Elle est représentée assise en lalitasana sur un lotus émergeant des flots. Sa main droite en varadamudra et sa main gauche en vitarkamudra tiennent une tige de lotus. Elle est vêtue d'un sari et parée de bijoux. Son visage est serein. La partie supérieure est rehaussée de Sitatara et de deux manifestations de Syamatara. Sadbhujyamahakala occupe la partie inférieure. Le montage est réalisé en soie et rehaussé de motifs appliqués représentant les Huit Emblèmes Bouddhiques et des lotus ; accidents.
