A Dasson table of identical form but dating to 1883 was sold Christie's London, The Opulent Eye: 500 Years Decorative Arts Europe, 14 March 2013, lot 233.
This delightful table de salon is related to a table made by Jean-Henri Riesener (d.1806), and delivered in 1783 for the cabinet intérieur of Madame Elisabeth at Versailles, sister to Louis XVI, now in the Philadelphia Museum of Art (1939-41-9).
Paris-based Henry Dasson (d. 1896) specialised in fine copies of 18th century French furniture, particularly pieces with Royal provenance. He exhibited at the Paris Expositions from 1878 to 1895 and is especially well-regarded for the quality of his ormolu mounts.
