Lot Essay

A similar pair of handscreens, not stained green and with flower rather than elephant finials sold at CSK. lot 17 24 February, 1987. That pair had been looted at the seige of Seringapatam 1790. There is a fan of this technique but, leaf-shaped, in the Victoria and Albert Museum; it was illustrated plate 48, Fans From The East, F.C, 1978
