Lot Essay

US$6,400-8,800

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1961 and its subsequent sale on 26 May 1961.

Reference 3418 was introduced in 1958 and ceased in 1962. This ingenious model was designed to allow the easy change of the leather strap for a metal version by unscrewing a metal ring fixed onto the case back and revealing the lugs, hence its designation "convertible".

To the best of our knowledge, the present watch has never been offered in public before and less than 8 examples of this model have appeared at auction thus far.
