THE MAGNIFICENT CELLAR OF THE LATE CORNELIUS F. "NEIL" KEATING
Cornelius F. ( "Neil") Keating began buying individual bottles of Bordeaux while at Harvard Law School in the late 1940s. After moving to New York, where he began what was to be an illustrious career at CBS and as a pioneer in direct marketing at Columbia House, from which he retired as Chairman, he continued to build, and enjoy, a significant cellar, with a continuing focus on Bordeaux.
A man of wide and varied interests, and an enthusiast who loved to introduce friends to the subtle pleasures of wine, Mr. Keating incorporated his love of travel and history into his studies, visiting most of the major vineyards in France and in California. His expertise was recognized by past membership in the Commanderie de Bordeaux and the Chevaliers du Tastevin, and was a significant source of pleasure for the many friends and family fortunate to have shared his table and his wine. The majority of wines here were bought on release and stored in a deep limestone cellar of a Victorian farm house in Connecticut.
