A CELADON JADE MOUNTAIN BOULDER
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The irregular material is finely modelled as a craggy mountain boulder, depicting an attendant following two scholars standing on a promontory that juts out into a valley below. One scholar is pointing to a distant pavilion, amidst pine and wutong trees. The reverse side is similarly carved with two deer separated on a winding mountain path. The stone is of a pale celadon tone with a slight russet inclusions.
