A RARE SILVER-INLAID AND GILT-DECORATED BRONZE VASE
MING DYNASTY, 16TH/17TH CENTURY
The cylindrical vase is well cast in relief with a multitude of butterflies and flying insects divided by a gilt band. The insects' wings and bodies are picked out in gilt and finely highlighted with silver inlay. The narrow tapering foot and everted mouth are further richly decorated in gilt.
