A JIAN 'HARE'S FUR' TEA BOWL
SONG DYNASTY (960-1279)
The sides of the deep rounded bowl rise to an indentation before the silver-bound rim. The bowl is covered with a black glaze streaked with russet markings ending in a thick line with droplets above the foot to expose the dark greyish-brown stoneware body.
4 3/4 in. (12 cm.) diam., Japanese wood box
Provenance
In the collection of a Japanese nobleman durign the Edo Period (1603-1868) (according to the inscription on the box)
