Lot Essay

This unusual yellowish-green glaze, lighter in colour to the teadust glaze, is known by its Chinese name as 'eel-skin'-yellow.

Compare to a nearly identical vase sold at Christie's New York, 18 September 2003, lot 344, and a very similar example of slightly smaller size sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 28 November 2012, lot 2314. Compare also to a smaller example with wider neck and splayed foot, sold at Christie's London, 18 June 2002, lot 50.
