The bowl with rounded sides is carved in shallow relief with the Bajixiang, interrupted by a peach sprig hanging from a bat in high relief on each side at the incurved rim, the handles issuing from bats and foliate suspending loose rings, supported on four ruyi-shaped feet. The stone is of a pale celadon tone with milky speckling and russet inclusions in concentrated areas.

A slightly smaller pale celadon jade marriage bowl decorated with the Bajixiang, each enclosed in a petal-shaped panel was sold at Christie's London, 8 November 2011, lot 126. A white jade censer with cover, also decorated with the Bajixiang in panels and handles issuing from bats, from the Alan and Simone Hartman Collection, is illustrated by R. Kleiner in Chinese Jades from the Collection of Alan and Simone Hartman, Hong Kong, 1996, p. 93, pl. 78, and sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 1 December 2010, lot 3026.
