A CARVED WHITE JADE 'DRAGON' BELT PLAQUE
YUAN/EARLY MING DYNASTY
The shaped plaque is carved to one side with a writhing three-clawed dragon amid ruyi clouds and two of the Babao, 'Eight Treasures', above waves breaking against jagged outcrops, the other side attached to a wood stand.
5 1/2 in. (13.9 cm.) long, Japanese wood box
Provenance
Previously in the collection of a Japanese calligrapher from Shikoku in the 1970s and 1980s
