TWO IVORY MODELS OF A SNAKE CHARMER
POSSIBLY LUCKNOW, NORTH INDIA, 19TH CENTURY
Each realistically carved, on rectangular skirted dais, with the tools of their trade, the first holding a stick and a snake at its feet, the other standing amongst his bundled possessions and a huqqa, playing the pungi with one hand, holding a white snake in the other, a cobra raised in the basket, one snake writhing towards the charmer and another crawling out of a bag, one dais lacking its skirting
