TWO IVORY MODELS OF SNAKE CHARMERS (SAPERAS)

Each realistically carved, on rectangular base on four feet, each snake charmer holding and blowing in his flute (pungi) and holding either a bamboo cane or a wicker ring in the other hand, the first sapera standing next to his two bundles, the upper part of a huqqa and the lid of the now lacking basket where the snake would have stood, the other charmer standing amongst bundles and implements, one snake made of black hardwood coiled in a basket, the other carved in light brown wood on the basket lid lying aside
