Lot Essay

Garden pots provided the main output of the Compton Pottery with Mrs Watts providing the original designs and from which master moulds were made for mass production. The numerours designs ranged from the more ornate 'Celtic', 'Apple' and 'Poppy' pots to simpler patterns and shapes such as the 'Leix' pot with its six plain curved incised panels.
