Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1947 and its subsequent sale on November 11th of the same year.

To the best of our knowledge this watch has never before been offered in public.

Reference 431 was produced beginning around 1929 through 1947, and is one of the rare watch models that was produced before references were given. It was given the reference 431 in 1932, and over its period of production, was made in several series using different caliber shapes. The present watch is part of the last series, which starting in 1946 used the caliber 10"200.

An example of reference 431 is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by M. Huber & A. Banbery, second edition, pg. 156.
