Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 2007 and its subsequent sale on September 29th of the same year.

Further accompanied by a Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated September 1st, 2007, Patek Philippe veneered presentation box and slip, product literature, and leather portfolio.

To the best of our knowledge this watch has never before been offered in public.

Reference 5070 was the first chronograph-only reference made by Patek Philippe since the reference 1463 was discontinued in the late 1960's. It was first produced starting in 1998 in yellow gold only, then starting in 2001 in white gold only, in 2003 pink gold only, and since 2008 only in platinum. It is thought that for each color, the production stopped after reaching 1000 pieces, except for platinum.

With a case diameter of 42 millimeters, it is one of the largest watches that Patek Philippe produces.
