FIRST EDITION OF THIS HIGHLY RARE COLLECTION OF LARGE CHROMOLITHOGRAPHS. ABPC and AE do not record any copy at auction. WorldCat locates just one, at the American University of Beirut; the Catalogue Collectif de France adds another copy at the École Française in Rome, published by A. Lenegre, possibly a more modest variant than the present lavish publication issued by Henri Plon, printer to the Emperor. Scenes include: a visit to the Hassan Mosque, a marriage in Cairo, whirling Dervishes, a Bedouin family, the festival of Mahmal, an allegorical scene commemorating the opening of the Suez Canal, and others. Not in Atabey, not in Blackmer.
