RICHARDSON, Elizabeth (1576/7-1651). A Ladies Legacie to her Daughters. London: Harper, 1645. 8° (139 x 90mm). Large woodcut facing title, title within woodcut borders. Contemporary calf, gilt monogram to covers, red edges (extremities rubbed, spine worn). Provenance: Elizabeth Richardson (annotations and corrections) -- ?John Ashburnham (1603-1671; monogram on covers).
THE AUTHOR'S OWN COPY, ANNOTATED AND CORRECTED in ink. Elizabeth Richardson noted on the first page of the text that the book was written in 1610 an published in 1645; according to ODNB online the text was in three parts: the first had been written in 1625 and the second in 1635. In her annotations the author changed the title to 'A Mothers Legacie' and made several changes to the text throughout. The monogram on the covers probably indicates that the book was given to her son, John Ashburnham.
